Minister Kenneth Martin Jr. is the loving husband of the beautiful Mrs. Maya Martin. They have been married for over 12 years and are the proud parents of two lovely daughters, A Native of Northern California, He now resides in the city of Las Vegas with his wife and two daughters. They are the members of the Tabernacle of Praise church and serve faithfully in ministry with their leaders Pastor Michael & First Lady Kathy Jackson.
Born into a family of preachers and teachers, Minister Martin has been exposed to the Gospel for as long as he can remember. The son & grandson of Pastors, Missionaries and Evangelists, Minister Martin shares a rich heritage in church ministry. He grew up at the Macedonia church of God In Christ in Suisun, CA under the Pasturage of the late Henry Simpkins. His growth continued at Macedonia under the tutelage of his father Pastor Kenneth Martin Sr.
As a young child there was an evident call upon his life to serve the Lord and through the gift of music he was able to start serving in the church at an early age. At five years old he began playing drums for his church’s youth choir and sunshine band singers. Later, when he decided that drum line had just gotten to popular and to long of a wait he asked his father to teach him a song on the piano. He taught him the song, ”He’s Alright With Me” , and the rest is history. His parents believed in nurturing and training their children in serving the Lord in the church and abroad through practical application. This type of training allowed Minister Martin to become exposed to various areas of the ministry.
He accepted Christ as Lord and was saved during the summer of his 7th grade Junior high school year at a Sunday morning service in Suisun, Ca. and was water baptized shortly after. He admits to having many challenges in living for the Lord as a youth and recalls many times when he turned back and began allowing old habits to become his daily living. He admits, ”I know that I was crucifying the Lord afresh at those times in my life. I am thankful that God’s grace and mercy and Christ’s blood were sufficient to forgive, and restore me back into right fellowship with the Lord.”
In High school between the years of 1990 and 1993, Minister Martin became co-founder of the Armijo High school Gospel Choir. Through this group he was able to draw other teens to relationship with Christ and a deeper love for gospel music.
Minister Martin was baptized in the Holy Ghost on September 21, 1998 in an old fashioned prayer revival service with the evidence of speaking in tongues. He admits, “Since that day, my life has never been the same.” Shortly after receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, Minister Martin acknowledged and yielded to the call of God upon His life to share the Gospel and became a licensed Minister.
He has worked in almost every area of church ministry, including Sunday school teacher, Youth Leader, Music Minister, Choir Director and Trainer, Bible Study instructor, musician, Witnessing Team Leader, and anything else he can find his hands doing.
He is committed to living out the purpose and plan of God in his life and believes in holy living, giving God Glory in everything, and worshiping God in everything he does.
