Workshop Presenter: Choir Development - Sis. Laveenia Peavy

Praise the Lord! My name is Sis Laveenia Peavy. I am a wife of ONE husband with 3 beautiful children.  I belong to The True Pentecostal Church of Vallejo, where my pastor is Eld. Charles Jordan.
I have been surrounded by music al my life.  My grandmother/father, aunts/uncles, cousins etc, all have some form of musical talent. Whether it is instruments or vocal ability, they all have expressed themselves through music.  God has blessed me to be able to embrace the ministry of music in the same manner.  I have been involved in church music ministry since the age of around 10 years old, including: children’s choir, teen youth choir, and now the adult choir.  I have also been blessed to play the bass guitar for our Women’s choir a few years back.  I currently hold the position of Music Director at my church covering all aspects of music from choirs, to musicians, to the sound room, and I am the worship leader.  Although, it is a lot to handle, I take the challenge.
Food for thought: There is a level of worship and praise that one can enter into that will shake the very foundation of satans’ kingdom!  My strength lies in the word of God and in my very worship to Him.  I long to be in the vein of God and to know the very heart of Him that hath blessed me!

Workshop Music Clinician: Bass - Brian Turner

I was born in San Francisco, CA and raised in Vallejo, CA.  I am the younger of two siblings. I truly love God, because I understand that without “God” I can do nothing.
I trust him and believe that the gift of playing guitar is truly that a “gift” from God.  I began to play the bass guitar at age 13 under the instruction of my father Sam Turner, whom I admire and love and believe he is one of the best guitar players God has appointed.
I began playing in the Church of God in Christ under the pastorialship of Elder B.T. Turner.  Although I was a young man I knew “God” had a work for me to do, so I would practice basically everyday and play in church every Sunday, it was not always easy because disciplining myself to practice did not come natural, however, dedication helped me to heed to the call of God!
Some of my influences are: My Pops (Sam Turner), Derrick DOA Allen, Eric Smith, Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clark, Jaco Pastorius, Maurice Fitzgerald, Joel Smith, Pino Palladino and a host of others.
Instruments I play: Fender Geddy Lee, Jaaa Bass , Lakeland Five String Bass, Amp eg 210 combo Amp
“As I continue on this journey of playing my bass guitar for God I have realized that it is not being the best but it is being God’s best that counts.
